A cottage built in 1886 by James Barrett Walthall. He served as Chancery Clerk of Marshall County and was the great uncle of Kate Freeman Clark whose home was across the street. The home later passed into hands of the Gholson family in1892, and it remained in that family until 2004. The home was purchased by George and Laurie Gwin. They named the home “Gwydir” to honor their Welsh ancestors.
